I believe There must be one more case on Dera Chief Baba Ram Rahim, as on young man commit suicide because of his Court Cases.
Who is next of his follower for the same ???

Young dera follower kills himself

Young Man suicide because of Baba Ram Rahim

He was upset at “Guruji’s” trial, says suicide note

Sirsa, March 23
Upset at the hearing of criminal cases against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the CBI Special Court, a follower allegedly shot himself in the temple outside the courts here this evening. The incident occurred shortly after the dera chief left at about 3.30 pm after appearing before the CBI Court in Ambala through video-conferencing.

The police found Vinod (28), a local resident, dead in a Maruti 800 car parked outside the courts. The car had a “press”sticker on the windscreen. The police recovered a pistol and a suicide note from the vehicle.

The note said that he was upset at the hearing of cases against the “Guruji” on a daily basis, said DSP Pooran Chand Panwar.

The dera followers have raised a tent outside the courts. Those accompanying the dera chief’s cavalcade wait for him under this tent.

The entry of comman people inside the court complex is barred once the dera chief arrives there and remains so till he leaves.

The dera chief is facing trial in the Ram Chandra Chhattarpati murder case, former dera follower Ranjit Singh’s murder case and a case regarding the alleged exploitation of a former dera sadhvi. The court began hearing the cases on a daily basis from January 5 this year. The decision triggered opposition from the dera followers who started holding angry protests outside the court.

The CBI court, on an application filed on behalf of the dera chief, exempted him from personal appearance for six days on January 25.

Today, the prosecution had to provide evidence in the Chhatarpati murder case. However, the case was adjourned to March 28 as Jai Pal, a policeman who was to depose before the court, had to appear before another court today.

Ram Rahim (Dera sacha sauda) is still in action

Curfew in Bhikhi after violent clash

Bhikhi (Mansa), January 2

Curfew was clamped on Bhikhi town of Mansa district following a clash between hundreds of followers of hardline Sikh preacher Baljeet Singh Daduwal and the police force drawn from various districts this afternoon.

It was a free-for-all as radicals hurled stones at police personnel, who countered them by resorting to firing, lathicharge, throwing bricks, lobbing tear gas shells and using water cannons.

In the violent episode that lasted for over an hour, a large number of radicals and policemen, including their senior officials, sustained injuries. As the rampaging Sikh radicals started damaging police vehicles, the police retaliated in the same way and damaged a number of tractors belonging to the hardliners.

Though the IG (Bathinda zone), the DIG (Bathinda range), the SSP (Mansa) and the AIG (Intelligence) led the force from the front, policemen found themselves outnumbered and were forced to go on the back foot.

Tension had been simmering in the town for the past two days, as the hardliners, under the leadership of Sant Baljeet Singh Daduwal, had been performing a “samagam” (a religious congregation) in the town. Followers of the Dera Sacha Sauda had expressed apprehension before the police suspecting that he would speak against dera chief Gurmit Ram Rahim. After Daduwal assured the police that he would not speak anything objectionable, the police allowed him to hold the programme.

However, dera followers took an exception to some words that Daduwal used against their religious head on Saturday. Though the timely action by the police averted a clash between them on Saturday, both groups asked their supporters to assemble at Bhikhi today.

As hundreds of dera followers assembled on the main road here this morning, the police, as a preventive measure, rounded up Daduwal from Gurdwara Jandalisar, located near Kotshamir in Bathinda district, and took him to some undisclosed place.

As the information reached Daduwal’s followers, who were waiting for him at the place of congregation, they turned aggressive and started assembling on the road. The situation turned tense when members of both groups started moving towards each other brandishing weapons.

Meanwhile, a contingent of the police force reached the spot and positioned itself between the two groups. Water cannons and anti-riot vehicles were also stationed there to prevent a clash.

As the senior police officials initiated negotiations, dera followers demanded that Daduwal should not enter the town and that the “samagam” should not take place. On the other hand, Sikhs were reluctant to leave the place before the dera followers did so and their leader Daduwal was released.

Somehow, police officials managed to persuade dera followers to return to their places and vacate the road, but hardliner Sikhs, who were getting aggressive, went out of control. After the police officials denied their demand of bringing Daduwal amid them, they turned violent. Initially, they damaged a police vehicle and a shop located nearby.

When the police resorted to lathicharge, they turned more aggressive and started hurling stones at policemen, injuring some of their senior officials also. The policemen then resorted to water cannons, tear gas shells and even retaliated by throwing bricks at radicals.

As the radicals broke into groups and started attacking the police from various corners, streets and even from the roofs of buildings located nearby, police personnel found themselves outnumbered.

Finding the situation turning ugly, the Deputy Commissioner, Mansa, imposed a curfew in the town and the police resorted to firing. The situation was somehow brought under control.

More than 12 Sikh radicals were arrested and Daduwal was not released from the police custody till the filing of this news report. Curfew was prevailing in the town and an operation was still on to arrest other Sikh radicals.

Inspector-General of Police (Bathinda zone) Nirmal Singh Dhillon said, “As the operation is still on, the actual number of those arrested and those who sustaining injuries cannot be confirmed.”

Tilak / Tikka in Sikhism

Just to share this with our fellow sikhs who think Tilak / Tikka is prohibited in Sikhi.

Tilak in Sikhism

Tilak Tikka in Sikhism

Baba Buddha Ji (Punjabi: ਬਾਬਾ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਜੀ) (1506-1631) is recognized as one of the great Sikhs of the Guru period. He had the privilege of being blessed by the first six Gurus. He led an ideal Sikh life for more than a hundred years. He was one of closest companions of the guru Nanak (the first Guru of Sikhism) and is one of the most revered and sacred saints in Sikhism. He holds one of the most important and pivotal positions in Sikh history. The first head Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib.

Baba Budha applied Tilak/Tikka to five Sikh Gurus, from Guru Angad Dev to Guru Hargobind. Tikka was applied to the foreheads of 7th, 8th and 9th Sikh Gurus by Baba Gurditta Randhawa, grandson of Baba Buddha ji. This ceremony in the case of 10th Sikh Guru was performed by Ram Kanwar Randhawa alias Gurbakhsh Singh.

Bloody fight erupts at Brampton Sikh temple

Five people are in hospital after two opposing groups clashed inside a Brampton Sikh temple Sunday afternoon.

The fight broke out at the Guru Nanak Sikh Centre at Glidden Rd. near Hwy 410 and Steeles Ave. when one group tried to break up the other group’s meeting. It started as a fistfight but witnesses say turbans soon flew and hammers, machetes and construction knives were brandished as a group of about 100 people clashed at about 3:45 p.m.

Paramedics wheel away one of five victims injured in a brawl Sunday at Brampton's Guru Nanak Sikh Centre on Glidden Rd. According to witnesses several of the participants fought with hammers, machetes and construction knives.

( Paramedics wheel away one of five victims injured in a brawl Sunday at Brampton’s Guru Nanak Sikh Centre on Glidden Rd. According to witnesses several of the participants fought with hammers, machetes and construction knives. )

The fight spilled outside as Peel Regional Police scrambled to take control, said witnesses.

“It was quite chaotic,” said Jagdish Grewal, editor of Punjabi Post, a newspaper published in Brampton, who arrived minutes after the fight broke out and saw two men lying outside with a bloodied hammer between them. Others were being given first-aid and taken to hospital.

Inside the hall, where the scuffle happened, Grewal said knives and machetes were still lying on the floor along with torn blood-soaked clothes. “There was blood too on the tiles,” Grewal told the Star.

At heart is the control of the temple but no one will say that openly.

The management was not available to comment on Sunday’s violence but members of the temple said trouble had started brewing a couple of days earlier when the group opposing the management announced that it would hold a meeting inside the temple.

“All we wanted was to have a meeting to discuss matters of the temple,” said Rampal Dhillon, who was inside the hall when the fight broke out. “We started the meeting at 3 p.m. and it was going smoothly when about two dozen people stormed inside.”

They were wielding hammers, machetes and construction knives, said Dhillon, who lives in Dundas, near Hamilton. There was screaming and yelling as people shoved and pushed to get outside, he added.

“It’s an ongoing dispute among the board members,” said Const. George Tudos of Peel Regional Police, adding that police had been called in earlier. “There was indication that there might be some trouble here.”

This fight comes two weeks after Manjit Mangat, a prominent Brampton lawyer, was stabbed outside the Sikh Lehar Centre, a Sikh temple located barely a kilometre away from the temple at Glidden Rd. Witnesses had said at least two men brandished unsheathed kirpans, the ceremonial dagger worn by baptized Sikhs, triggering a fresh controversy about Sikhs’ right to wear it.

What is God?

What is GOD?

This is a thought / question that I want to share with you. I have heard so many preachers or persons who discourse on Stages of Gurdwaras:

“Recite Name of God, that will be useful for you.” “The person who recites name of God, will be be enjoy Heaven”. “The person who will not recite name of God , will not be saved in this life or the next life”.

My question is What is name of God? Or What is actually reciting the name of God?

As far as my knowledge is concerned I know reciting name of God means You are praising your God.

It means a person who is not praising God will not be blessed by God. What kind of God this is who loves to praise by common people. Moreover a person who does not praise him (God) is not eligible for his blessings.

We have learnt from childhood that “Recite Name”/ “Naam Japo”… God lives in Name… The person who recites Name will get your self beyond the materialistic world.

All these things not have been stated by God him self, these statements are Man made.

I believe Nobody has seen God, It means God is an imaginary object. We all have been getting Scare of this imaginary object, in these statements “If you will not recite Gods name you will be punished after Death or in next birth”.

Again the punishment is an imaginary object After Death or Next Birth (Nobody knows what will happen after death…where will we go or not).

 An Example:

If any holy man (Baba / sant / fakir) will say to any man that If you will not recite name of God you will be get punishment in the age of 60. Then there are 100 percent chances that the Baba / sant will proved fake when that particular man will come to the same baba at the age of 60 to say that he is perfectly fine and living happily.

So, to not to take chances like situation mentioned above, our so called Babas, sants scare us by some thing unreal things like After Death , next Birth and so on.

Do you think it’s all OK?

You are open to discuss or comment if you have any practical approach on this topic.

Sikh leaders order demolition of Golden Temple replica

Amritsar (Punjab), June 20 (IANS) Furious over a sect’s attempts to replicate the design and structure of the Sikh community’s holiest shrine, the Golden Temple, Sikhism’s highest temporal seat Akal Takht Friday ordered it to raze the structure.

A meeting was called by the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), which manages the affairs of Sikh shrines, here Saturday to decide the fate of the Mastuana Gurdwara in Punjab’s Sangrur district, 170 km from Chandigarh,

SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar later said all Sikh organisations and religious groups like Damdami Taksal, Sant Samaj and Dal Khalsa attended the meeting and the Akal Takht decided to demolish those structures of the Mastuana Gurdwara that are similar to the Harmandir Sahib, popularly known as the Golden Temple.

“They have given the responsibility of executing this work to the SGPC. All of us abide by the verdict of Akal Takht,” he told IANS.

The private shrine that is being built by Mastuana Dera in Sangrur, has upset Sikh leaders and religious organiSations because of its similarity in design with the Golden Temple.

The SGPC had sent a probe panel to the replica shrine which recorded video evidence and submitted its report, saying that the sect was trying to replicate Sikhism’s holiest shrine.

The representatives of Mastuana Dera were also present during the meeting and expressed willingness to abide by the final decision of Akal Takht.

Kanwarpal Sikh, secretary of radical Sikh group Dal Khalsa, said the Mastuana gurdwara’s move was unacceptable and the only option to end this controversy is to demolish the whole structure.

“There are only two options, either the Akal Takht will direct the SGPC to pull down the structure or we people would ourselves flatten it through kar sewa (community service),” he said.

The controversial shrine, owned by cash-rich Mastuana Dera headed by Sant Sadhu Singh, has been under construction since 1967. It had provoked similar controversy when its outer shape became apparent in the early 1990s and the then Akal Takht jathedar (head priest) had issued a Hukumnama (religious edict) barring its completion till key structural changes were made.

The Mastuana sect comprises of Sikh followers, mostly from the lower strata of society. Its main influence is limited to a part of south-west Punjab’s agricultural belt of Malwa.

Recent attempts to restart work on the incomplete shrine had provoked angry reactions from other Sikh organisations.

Beware of Babas, Maharaj jis and Gurus.

Now a days our Punjab is facing comments of various Babas in one way or other. In fact not only Punjab but Sikh community as whole no matter where sikhs are living weather Delhi, Haryana and in abroad, Austria, US , Canada, UK etc. facing impact of so called baba, Guru or religious Gurus. We should start thinking why all this is happening and we should go deep in the cause of all this.

Why we are not with Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (SGGSJ) ?

Why we prefer some one physically in front of us to bow and to listen ?

Why we put more faith on Deh dhari guru than SGGSJ ?

What we get from Deras that we are not getting from Gurudawars ?

Is this babaism is cause of increase in antisocial nature in society ?

I request you all to think on this perticular problem / topic and send your comments to put the light on the subject.

Not a battle between Sikhs & Hindus, said Baba Dhumma

Damdami Taksal

(Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma, chief of Damdami Taksal, in Ludhiana on Sunday 06 Dec. 2009)

Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma, chief of Damdami Taksal, a radical Sikh organisation who spearheaded the campaign in Ludhiana against the discourse of Ashutosh Maharaj, said today it was not a religious battle between the Sikhs and the Hindus.

The religious leader said both communities had been living in harmony for centuries together and they would continue to do so and the yesterday’s incident was no reflection on the relationships between the two religions.

“We are against Ashutosh as his followers popularise him as a reincarnation of Guru Nanak Dev, Lord Rama and Jesus Christ. We cannot buy this,” said Baba Dhumma.

He added the bone of contention among them was that he used to say in his discourses that the Sikhs were not the real Khalsa.

“He claims himself to be Khalsa. We have a video footage to prove the allegations against him.”

Stating that he had never imagined that they would have to lose a Sikh in yesterday’s protest, which was conceived to be peaceful, the religious leader said they had thought the administration would handle the case well. “But unfortunately our march was considered a mob. The firing was unprovoked and we have lodged a complaint also,” he said.

He added that they were not against Ashutosh because of his being a migrant. “Punjab is a state where migrants are treated well. We are only against his ideology.”

Kirpan (Sword) attack on Gurdwara priest

NEW DELHI :  An assistant sub-inspector, along with three others, was seriously injured on Monday evening when he went to arrest a man accused of attacking a priest inside a gurdwara in the city’s southeast district.

Amar Colony gurdwara Delhi

(The gurdwara at Amar Colony where a devotee attacked a number of people, including policemen, with his dagger / Kirpan)

ASI Ranbir had rushed along with three other officers to Amar Colony after receiving a call that a man had attacked a priest inside a gurdwara in the locality, a senior police official said.

The man, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, entered the gurdwara and allegedly took out a sword and attacked the priest around 5.15pm, the official said adding a call to was made to PCR shortly.
A PCR van was rushed to the spot. Ranbir was in-charge of the vehicle. He tried to catch the accused who then turned towards Ranbir and flung the sword targeting his head,” the official said.

“Ranbir suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre where he is undergoing treatment. He will be operated upon,” the official said.

Earlier, locals in the area said a middle-aged mentally challenged man entered the gurdwara premises and attacked the Granthi with a sword that was lying nearby. “Even as the injured Granthi lay on the floor, the accused attacked two worshippers who came in his way. As he came out, the policemen tried to arrest him and he attacked Ranbir,” said an area resident.

“One of the officers with Ranbir finally caught the assailant by jumping on him from behind,” a police official said.

All the injured have been rushed to hospital. “We have sent the accused for a medical test. If he is mentally disturbed, we will think about the charges he will be booked under,” added the officer.

Something Funny But True.

Lal Batti

Its really True, Most of the Maharaj’s or Baba’ s have their marketing , promotion departments whos job is to make their effort 24×7 to promote and make their Maharaj or Baba Famus, thru Road side hoardings, TV channel advertisements, newspaper advertisements, Websites, Sticker on cars  and above all MOUTH publicity.

These babas are very flexible they will remove Lal Bati from their cars for a while so that their business will keep running. They are not less than any politician.

Chicago Wale Chicago wale

Baba Daljit Singh Chicago

Baba Daljit Singh Chicago (ਬਾਬਾ ਦਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਗੋ) is contemplating to file defamation cases against all those tabloids and newspapers, which had published news that he was caught from a motel in the U.S.A. with a woman. The Panthic Weekly, reportedly carried a page one news today, alleging that: ‘On the night of November 17 at 11:20 p.m., a member of the Chicago Sikh Sangat received a phone call that the van of Sant Baba Daljit Singh was at a local motel and he was in the company of a woman. Upon receiving this information, members of the sangat reached the motel location. After a long wait, the police finally managed to get the door opened and members of the sangat saw with their very own eyes Sant Daljit Singh with a woman.’

Talking to T.N.S. from the U.S. yesterday, Baba Chicago said there were some ‘forces’ which were out to defame him due to his popularity in India and foreign countries, especially after the distribution of relief among victims of earthquake-hit areas.

However, Mr. Yadvinder Singh, president, American Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (ਅਮੇਰਿਕੈਨ ਗੁਰਦਵਾਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ) A.G.P.C., who is here these days, alleged that he had got ‘first-hand information’ from the U.S. that Baba Chicago was found in the company of a woman in a motel. Mr. Yadvinder Singh said Mr. Kulwant Singh Hundal, an executive member of the committee, had sent him a report from America that the matter had acquired a serious proportion. However, Baba Chicago alleged that Mr. Hundal had animosity against him and therefore he had started ‘concocting’ stories against him. He described the pictures, published in a tabloid as ‘doctored’ and added that he would get them verified through laboratories.

However, Mr. Prithipal Singh Sandhu, personal assistant to the jathedar [chief], Akal Takht, and Baba Sukha claimed that the it was nothing more than concocted story as Baba Chicago was busy at a religious function arranged at Gurdwara Gurjot Parkash these days.

Babbu Mann V/S Dhadrian Wale

Babu Maan
Dhadrian wale

There is a controversy between Babbu Mann (Punjabi Singer) and Sant Ranjit Singh Dhabdrianwala (Well known Sant / Baba).

Babu Mann Wrote and Sang the song,
“Ik Baba Nanak Si Jine Tur Ke Duniya Gaah Ti
Ik Ajj Kal Babe Ne Batti Laal Gaddi Te Laati….”

Although he (Babu Maan) has not mentioned any one’s name in his song but Sant Ranjit Singh reacted on his song and commented “ki je sangat keemti cars vich aundi hai te Babe tur ke aon?” [If his listeners are coming in big cars then How could he come by foot?]

Babbu Maan did not comment on Luxury Cars of so called babas, Even He did not named Sant Ranjit Singh.
He (Babbu Maan) only commented on Lal Bati (Red Light) fitted on so called Babas / Sants vehicles, that shows living standard as if they are a celebrity. Babas are far away from simlicity. Their life style shows they run after Money, Fame and all the luxuries and on other hand they preach about not to indulge in any sort of “Maya”.

Babu Maan only showed this kind of hypocracy of BABAs in General.

In a Poll (SMS) conducted by Time TV.

Result:  In favor of Babbu Maan 80 % people voted .

In favor of Baba Dhadariwala only 6 % people voted

Boy’s Sikh dagger in school ban

The boy's kirpan
The kirpan is one of five ‘articles of faith’ Sikhs must carry

A Sikh boy has been withdrawn from a north London school after he said he wanted to wear his traditional dagger.

The boy, 14, was told not to carry the 5in (12.7cm) kirpan at the Compton School in Barnet after governors ruled it was a health and safety risk.

Under Sikhism the sheathed scimitar is one of five “articles of faith” that must be carried at all times.

The school governors have said they have tried to find a compromise and a place remains open for the boy.

They proposed he wore a 2in version of the dagger welded into a sheath.

But that was rejected as the family said the miniature dagger was a replica and not a genuine kirpan.

Privately educated

The boy first started carrying the religious artefact two years ago when he was baptised as a Sikh.

However, according to his older brother Ravjeet Singh, at the start of term last month, he was told it was no longer allowed.

“He was greeted by the head teacher at the school and was asked if he was wearing the kirpan” he told the BBC’s Asian Network.

“He said yes and then they said, ‘we’re going to have to turn you away’.”

At the moment we are holding a place open for the student should he feel able to wear a kirpan suitable to bring into school Statement by the school’s governors

Mejindarpal Kaur, director of community group United Sikhs, said: “The Compton School’s decision is a blow to religious freedom in Barnet – schools throughout the UK have accommodated Sikh students who wear a kirpan.”

The boy’s family said he is now being privately educated, having missed five weeks of school.

A statement by the school’s governors said: “We have examined potential compromises after looking at how this issue has been dealt with in other schools and elsewhere within the Sikh community and taken legal advice.

“At the moment we are holding a place open for the student should he feel able to wear a kirpan suitable to bring into school.”

The Department for Children, Schools and Families said it was up to schools to make their own policy on the carrying of the kirpan and that, if challenged, it would be up to the courts to decide.

In Sikhism the kirpan is an instrument of non-violence that should be used to prevent harm from being done to a defenceless person.

Gay Wedding offends Sikh Sentiments!

Sikhi rejects Homosexuality; it is unnatural and is seen as offensive behaviour towards God. God has made man for women, this is the laws of nature. So why does a So-called Sikh wear his kara, dastar and kirpan and marry another man. This is taking the mick out of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s uniform.

The above picture was taken from his website http://www.jazzy-yogi.com/, this picture is not from the wedding day, but there are pictures from the wedding day where the gatra can be seen! I have included one below:

Was Gurbani read at this wedding? In the picture above you may see something that looks like a Senji Sahib (if it was any kind of Gurbani), it is a great disrespect to recite Gurbani to bless an unholy act as such as this.

So called Sikhs are present at the wedding! I feel a true Sikh should reject and oppose Homosexuality as being socially accepted. Everyone is entitled to their own private life, but should gays be allowed to marry, adopt or publicly perform their disturbing actions (if we do allow all this, what message are we sending to the kids. we need to tell our kids that homosexuality is a disturbing trend and wrong, it should not be made legitimate).

In the Picture above she is wearing a Khanda, but is present at a Gay wedding.

They look good in the Bana, but i wonder what they are drinking?

What the hells going on in the above picture? weirdo’s!

In the above picture, you will see how jazzy normally looks, why couldn’t he have just got married like that?

If the Panth can’t get a letter of apology from jazzy, we got no honour left!
If Gurbani was recited, we should get an apology from the people responsible too, its only right!

Where are all the Sikh organizations, no point doing parchaar if you ain’t going to attack this great disrespect of the Sikh uniform and Gurbani. Someone please do something, on a diplomatic level. If we don’t do something we will see a Gay wedding in a Gurdwara, or in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib JI. Do nothing then, Nothing changes!

Granthi caught watching p**** clips in gurdwara

New Delhi:  In an incident that shocked gurdwara goers, a granthi (Sikh priest) was caught watching clips of a porn film on his mobile phone that was hidden under the table on which he had kept the scripture, as per an article carried in a daily.

The granthi, who managed to run away after his transgression was noticed, had allegedly been doing this for quite some time.

According to sarpanch Amrik Singh of Jhar Sahab, near Ludhiana, the incident came to light in the morning when a faithful praying at the Jhar Sahab gurdwara, managed by SGPC, found granthi Gurpreet Singh “wasn’t concentrating in the prayers and was rather distracted by something else underneath the table on which the scriptures were placed.”

“I was shocked to see that the granthi was actually busy seeing pornographic clips on his cellphone that he had cleverly hidden under the table,” said Jasbir Singh Gill, one of those praying at the gurdwara. “I immediately called the head granthi, Jaspal Singh, and we caught the man red-handed.”

“We have registered an FIR under IPC section 295 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) against the accused after checking the porn movie clips in his mobile,” said Rajesh Kumar, SHO, under whose jurisdiction Jhar Sahab falls.

This is the second time in recent days something like this involving a granthi has happened.

Granthi’s face blackened for ‘molesting’ kid

BARNALA: A local cleric was paraded with a blackened face and a garland of shoes around his neck after he allegedly tried to sexually abuse a five-year-old girl in a village near Barnala in Punjab.

Granthi Avtar Singh drew the ire of the villagers of Pona on Saturday. Singh, who was invited by the girl’s parents to a religious ceremony, tendered an apology initially but that was not enough for the villagers. The incident comes within a fortnight of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) taking a serious note of increasing incidents of granthis indulging in immoral acts.

SHO Kuldeep Singh said he was not aware of any such incident in the village. However, the villagers said they would lodge a complaint with the SGPC against the granthi.
